A Healthy Mind In A Healthy Body

I have found there is a definite link between physical health and nutrition. Because our brain function is affected by what we put in our bodies, it is extremely important to give our body and brain the correct fuel to keep it vibrant and strong. Do you think in some ways that our fast paced, modern living is causing our bodies to short circuit? Are we cutting corners? Does everything seem to be just too much for our brains?

Daily Nutrition

Proper nutrition heightens your mind and body. I have learned that one should feed their body and their brain with different foods that heighten it’s ability to function well. One should always include good fats, nuts, fish and good oils like olive oil and coconut oil for brain health.

I have been working with my nutritionist on how to create a powerful body and an optimal mind. I discovered nutrition to be extremely important for my ultimate health. I think one needs to discover, through a nutritionist or self-discovery, what foods and nutrients create the best results for their body. I have discovered that some foods have a higher vitality than others for myself. Vegetables and fruits that are fresh, and come directly from the earth give me physical and mental strength, while foods that are processed and sugary deplete my bodies’ energy & vitality. What foods give you more mental and physical energy, or what foods seem to deplete your body and create mental fatigue?

Daily Exercise

I have found that one should exercise for at least 20 minutes a day. Moving blood through your body and to your brain requires motion, which releases chemicals to lower unnecessary stress.

I have been practicing Continuum movement, while also exercising with a Personal Trainer. For me doing a lot of balance work and some weight training combined with a movement practice has been very beneficial.

My 7 Habits for a Having a Healthy Mind in a Healthy Body:

  1. Daily Physicality and Nutrition: Eating right and supplying your body with the vital nutrients it needs heightens your endurance and ability to heal. Proper nutrition enhances your mind and body.

I have found proper nutrition and exercise to be extremely necessary for my brain to have a continued recovery. I tend to take a few moments after I do or eat something new in my daily dietary routine to see if it agrees with my body.

  2. Mindfulness: Spend some time in focused thought, exploring new ideas every day.

I have found that being in my mind and exploring the many different sensations can be very rewarding. I believe that being in touch with myself adds a new strength to my being.

  3. Foster Creativity: Challenge your mind to connect ideas in new and useful ways. Try following a new path, and see where it leads.

I believe that the unknown fosters creativity; following a new path can stimulate my mind. Trying something new can be scary for me at times, but I feel it is one of the ways to keep progressing. When I decided to start painting, the process was very intimidating even though I knew this creative process would be very beneficial.

  4. Human Unity: Create and maintain close-knit human bonds and a social support network.

My close-knit family and circle of friends have always encouraged me to keep moving forward, and to never look back. This bond creates strength in my life.

  5. Spiritual Connectedness: Identify a Source of inspiration that is bigger than you.

I have always believed in a higher power. This higher power was able to save my life. I feel that believing in a larger entity or an unknown power, creates a strength within my own body.

  6. Energy Balance: Using diet and nutrition to create balance in your body.

I strongly suggest cutting sugar, some wheat, and dairy from ones diet. This way of eating is very beneficial for me. It lessens my addictive and obsessive tendencies and ultimately balances my body with the help of some vitamins. Because of this diet, I feel so much better.

  7. Voluntary Simplicity: Embrace the liberty that comes with wanting and needing less.

With all that is going on in the world, and the speed at which things are flooding our senses, I have found that I need to slow down and know that I can very easily survive on less. Always needing and wanting more may not always be a healthy option. I have found that simplicity can be the best option.

These are some of my habits for creating a healthy mind and a healthy body for myself. You might not agree with me, or you might have other healthy habits that you live by, either way, I hope that you found the points that I have mentioned beneficial for you. If you agree or disagree, or would like to share your opinion, please email me.

Thank you!!
